New Member Orientations

New Member Orientations have two purposes.  They are to provide an opportunity for the newly registered member to be officially welcomed into the organization as an active member. They are also intended to reaffirm that the new member understands what the organization expects of him/her as an active member and what he/she can expect from the organization.  New Member Orientation may include but not be limited to the following information:

  1. The new member(s) will be provided an overview of facility and P4L program options where they may choose to provide therapy services.
  2. He/She will be given the name and contact information of his/her team leader(s). If at all possible, the respective team leaders will be present at the orientation to personally meet the new member.
  3. He/She will be informed to coordinate with the team leader to establish an initial start date and schedule for visiting his/her respective facility or facilities.
  4. Minimum expected requirements of active members to retain active member status will be restated during the orientation.
  5. The new member will be issued his/her initial membership card, two PFL patches, and when possible, an initial number of Paws for Love business cards. Other items can be issued as determined necessary by the board of directors.
  6. It will be confirmed that the new member either already has or has ordered a vest for their dog(s), that he/she understands the proper layout for the vest and patches, and that the new member understands that Paws for Love visitations will not commence without a vest for their dog.
  7. The new member will be given an opportunity to review all of his/her information as it appears in the membership database to ensure accuracy.
  8. The new member will be given every opportunity to ask any questions he/she may have before beginning his/her role as an active member.
